Tooth Bonding Strongsville, OH

Tooth Bonding An Overview

Tooth bonding is a relatively simple procedure that can support your dental health and address a range of cosmetic and restorative concerns. Tooth bonding is an economical and convenient cosmetic dental treatment option for patients of all ages.

Dr. Leah Butler offers tooth bonding at Butler Family Dentistry in Strongsville, OH. Often recommended for younger patients with tooth damage or cosmetic concerns, tooth bonding can also be effective in treating:

  • Tooth discoloration
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Cracks, chips
  • Misshapen teeth

Tooth bonding involves the placement of a composite resin material on the gently etched surface of the tooth. Sculpted into place by Dr. Butler for a natural appearance and comfortable bite, the resin material is color matched to your existing teeth or to complement your appearance. Tooth bonding can be a more cost-effective alternative to porcelain veneers for children, teens and adult patients who may want to “try out” a new look before committing to veneers.

Is tooth bonding covered by dental insurance?

If you have dental insurance, we will work with you to determine if part or all of your tooth bonding treatment can be covered. In many cases, it is at least partially covered if there is trauma or a medical reason for the procedure. In the absence of insurance coverage, we will provide all costs for your consideration and can offer a range of payment options including financing with Care Credit.

Tooth Bonding What to Expect

The tooth bonding process is similar to a dental filling. Dr. Butler will begin by cleaning and numbing the area to be treated. Once you are comfortable she will prepare the tooth surface by gently etching the enamel. This is done to allow the resin material to adhere firmly to the tooth. The next step is to carefully sculpt the material into place, creating the desired look and ensuring that your bite remains stable and comfortable.

Once the process is complete, the material is hardened using a special light. After polishing the surface, your smile is ready and you can resume your daily routine.

A good daily oral hygiene routine and regular dental care will support a lasting result and enable our team to spot any changes in your oral health.
